Hawaii Ash Scattering

It’s a very difficult time losing a loved one.

Hawaii has a strong spiritual energy both on and off the ocean so it is no surprise that a farewell at sea is a healing and soothing way to say goodbye and begin anew.

Call for your custom ash scattering/ life celebration.  Let us know about your loved one and how you want to celebrate their life.

Gone From my Sight

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!”

“Gone where?”
Gone from my sight. That is all.  She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone says, “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her approach and other voices ready to take up the glad shout:
“Here she comes!”
And that is dying.

Hawaii’s best private sailing charter

A Hawaii private sailing charter means you are not sharing the boat with others. A good idea in the current era. Or, as a client recently shared, “we just don’t play well with others”. Any reason is a good one to call Sail Blue Hawaii for your own Hawaii private sailing charter.

What’s in a boat name?

“Kaikiwi” was featured in a cruising magazine. The article went on to say: “Recently, I put out a call for your favourite boat name and the reason behind it. Capt Gaelyn shared the story of “Kaikiwi”, her Beneteau 411. Capt Gaelyn was born and raised in New Zealand before finding the warmer waters of Hawaii to sail as a charter boat captain. What does “Kaikiwi” mean? Kai in Hawaiian means salt water. Kiwi is the fond nickname for a New Zealander. That makes a simple and unique boat name that summarises the experiences of Captain Gaelyn.”

If you call Sail Blue Hawaii for your Hawaii private sailing charter, you will find Captain Gaelyn behind the wheel of her beloved “Kaikiwi”.

Private sailing charter in Hawaii

While vacationing in Hawaii, do call Sail Blue Hawaii for your private sailing charter. It could well be the highlight of your vacation.

“Kaikiwi” sails from Oahu’s south (protected) shore, not far from Waikiki. We sail past beautiful coastline in the cobalt blue blue waters of our Pacific.  Wildlife such as green sea turtles, “honu”, dolphins, “nai’a”, humpback whales, “kohola” (in winter season only), and flying fish, “malolo” are some of the critters we may see as we sail. Beautiful views of Oahu, Diamond Head and, on clear days, far in the distance, Molokai and Lanai can sometimes be seen. Please understand this is not “destination” sailing.  “Destination” is sailing.

When is a good time to go sailing in Hawaii?

Because this is custom sailing, you can sail any time of day you want and whatever length of time you wish. Our islands are most consistently graced with trade winds so any time is a good time to go sailing…✨SUNRISE, morning, afternoon, SUNSET.✨  It is all good.

Whether you are an old salt, or have never been on a sailboat, Kaikiwi is perfect for you. Call Sail Blue Hawaii today for your own private sailing charter.

a happy day-sail

Hawaii whale watch

It was a fabulous afternoon with tradewind sailing at its best while enjoying our Hawaii whale watch. Captain Gaelyn managed to find two sets of mom and calf humpbacks in the bay. Our private sailing charter was also blessed with dolphins swimming in Kaikiwi’s bow wake. I had read on her website: “watch spinner dolphins surfing the bow wake” but thought that an exaggeration. Nope! much to our delight.

Honolulu’s best private sailing charter

It is perfect in today’s world to sail with Sail Blue Hawaii. We choose Captain Gaelyn and her “Kaikiwi” because of her beautifully maintained sailboat and the “private” sailing charter. Keeping family safe while having fun on the ocean was our priority. Humpbacks, dolphins, turtles, flying fish… all in one fabulous balmy afternoon. When we wrote for information on her private sailing charter, she wrote back:

We didn’t miss out on one single thing in that very wordy paragraph. Cobalt blue blue? Understated! Wildlife? They were all out to play. Molokai and Lanai were both there, yes, in the distance. Destination? Sailing!
