A Perfect Hawaii Sailing Charter

You have just navigated your way to Sail Blue Hawaii LLC and your perfect Hawaii sailing charter. “Kaikiwi” sails from Oahu’s south (protected) shore, not far from Waikiki, past beautiful coastline in the cobalt blue blue waters of our Pacific.  Wildlife such as green sea turtles, “honu”, dolphins, “nai’a”, humpback whales, “kohola” (in winter season only), and flying fish, “malolo” are some of the critters we may see as we sail. Beautiful views of Oahu, famous Diamond Head and, on clear days, far in the distance, Molokai and Lanai can sometimes be seen.

Talking about Navigation…

I was sailing with a family the other day and happened to mention that new boats are sold without a compass. Astounding, I know. They couldn’t believe it either. Well then, how the heck to you get from A to B? Everything today is electronic, from your charts to your navigation systems. Hence…no (“need for a”) compass. It’s like kids growing up and not knowing how to tie their shoe laces or even what a shoe lace is. In many ways, the young generations can be envied for what is at their fingertips. But it is very sad the day the compass dies, along with the paper chart (which cannot be purchased any more. If you really must have one, you have to special order it.) I love to have my hands and eyes all over paper charts. I love to use and teach with my compass. I am hanging on.

Kaikiwi’s compass can double as an inclinometer

A six-year-old, looking at my compass, asked if it is my “tip meter”. Sweet.

“The Riddle of the Compass”

is an intriguing book by Amir D. Aczel. The story of the compass is shrouded in mystery and myth, yet most will agree it begins around the time of the birth of Christ in ancient China. It is an historical and scientific exploration of the magnetic compass, arguing it was the single most transformative invention after the wheel. The book traces the device’s evolution from ancient Chinese divination tools to its revolutionary impact on global navigation, commerce, and the Age of Exploration. Have it read to you here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvybyr-du5w or buy it from your local book store.

I found this to be a gripping read…truly.

Hawaii Private Sailing “off the beaten track”

Set the tone (adventure, romance, fast sailing, slow easy sailing…) for your New Year and book a Hawaii private sailing charter A client this week (I am always interested, of course, how customers navigate to my site) said he had searched ” ‘un-touristy’ sailing charter”. ha ha. I love that Sail Blue Hawaii is thought of as different, AND un-touristy! Indeed, Sail Blue Hawaii does offer a different ocean experience than the many many catamaran tours (you’ll find online) where you “sail” with 59 of your closest friends. A novel approach another customer took to find exactly what she wanted was by the use of A.I “CoPilot”. Her request was immediately answered with the details sought and the suggestion of: “email capt.gaelyn@sailbluehawaii.com”. Do just that and you’ll find that we are priced right to get you out there.

5 best ideas that makes Sail Blue Hawaii unique and different

  1. We raise sails at the beginning of your charter and sail the entire time. For Hawaii, where many others motor or motor-sail, this is a unique treat. Sailors love this, as does everyone else…newbies too. Welcome aboard a true sailing charter.
  2. You have a uniquely private sailing charter. This means it’s only you and your family group. Perfect for romantic couples and celebrations too. No flu-bugs here.
  3. This is custom sailing. Unlike other companies who have a strict timetable, you can sail any time of day you want and whatever length of time you wish. No one else on island offers this: you are limited to their schedule. Our islands are mostly graced with consistent trade winds so any time is a good time to go sailing.
  4. Sailing lessons are offered for those wanting the taste. When else could one have the opportunity to put their hands on the wheel of a beautiful pricey yacht? Certainly no one else in Hawaii offers sailing lessons without you first signing up for the rigid ASA program on sub-par sailboats.
  5. You get to bring your own food and beverage. With today’s dietary needs, nothing is worse than having a pre-catered expensive menu, with foods you cannot eat, and having that cost hidden in your charter fee. You will appreciate this too if you have keiki.

HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR

by setting sail with Sail Blue Hawaii. You can navigate to the website with tag “un-touristy” sailing and/or using A.I. with your unique request. You’ll leave the chaos of snorkeling with a hundred others to others and appreciate the QUIET and PEACE of true sailing. There is no crowd as you leave the tour bus and the overloaded tour catamaran behind. The wind is our engine and the ocean is our song. You will not be disappointed with your choice of Hawaii’s best private sailing “off the beaten track”.

NO RULES! Bananas on board is OK with me 🙂

Start Keiki Young on Hawaii Private Sailing Charters

A potential client the other day asked about the child age limit for a Hawaii private sailing charter. When I said “there is no limit” he signed up immediately for a day-sail, 6 family members on board. The keiki had a blast and, with life jackets on, with an adult, the little ones gleefully sat on Kaikiwi’s forward deck. “The best seat in the house”, I call it. Sometimes you get wet, which often pumps the kids to laugh even more.

The Foredeck is not just for Keiki

Hawaii private sailing charters cover every type of request: proposal, saying “I Do”, sunrise cruise, adventure day-sail, (romantic) sunset cruise, sailing lessons, life celebrations and ash scattering. Because this is custom sailing, we can sail any time of day you want and whatever length of time you wish. Our islands are most consistently graced with trade winds so any time is a good time to go sailing…✨SUNRISE, morning, afternoon, SUNSET.✨  It is all good. Create your own adventure, any day, any time of day.
